Southeast on I-90. A powerful place of remembrance and learning, the monument preserves the site of the June 1876 battle fought between the U.S. Army’s 7th Cavalry and a coalition of Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors. Visitors can explore a visitor center and museum, then follow the 4.5-mile self-guided tour road with interpretive stops across key locations – including Last Stand Hill, the Indian Memorial, and the Reno-Benteen Battlefield. The landscape is marked with memorials and grave markers that help visitors understand the scale and significance of the event, and the adjacent Custer National Cemetery adds another reflective layer to the experience. Ranger programs are offered seasonally, and the site provides meaningful context on the battle’s lasting impact and continuing cultural importance. nps.gov/libi
